This CPD certified course is a general overview and an in-depth oriented toolkit to aid you in helping your patients or clients in reducing their anxiety or stress responses. By taking the course and completing the assessment at the end, you will earn you 3 CPD points toward your registration with the South African Health Professions Counsel of South Africa.
Overview
By the end of this presentation, you will:
- Have refreshed a basic understanding of anxiety and the uses of anxiety.
- Know into which of the three different DSM-5 categories specific anxiety disorders fall.
- Know how anxiety presents in 3 different life areas and how to assist clients in each area.
- Know how to deal with anxiety at work
- How to manage a panic attack at work
- How to break free of thinking traps
- How to break free from chronic catastrophizing
- Be equipped with coping skills to teach clients, including techniques that will:
- Help clients ease anxiety through using their senses
- By creating calming sensory experiences
- By playing a sensory description game
- By using a grounding exercise (sensory naming game)
- By calming their senses (hydrotherapy)
- Know how to stop ruminating “by changing the channel”
- Know how to turn worry into problem solving
